Eagle bats roared to life in the Regional finals at Gaylord against Big Rapids. Oakridge pounded out 13 hits in their 8-3 win. Blake Masterman set the tone early by hammering a one out double to the left field fence. Oakridge followed Mastermanś double with four straight singles. Luke Layman scored Masterman and Jaxon Fri drove in Koleman Wall and Layman. The Eagles added 4 more runs in the second on hits by TJ Ruel and Blake Masterman, two walks, perfectly executed bunts, and a Big Rapids miscue.
Koleman Wall, who had closed the semi-final and took the win went five and a third innings in game two, picking up the championship win. Austin Fairchild threw two and two thirds innings to finish the game after Wall was taken out due to pitch limitations.
Elliot Blair and Jace Gray each had two hits apiece for Big Rapids. Blair drove in a run and Gray scored one run for the Cardinals.
Oakridge returns to the quarterfinals after a three year drought. This is the first Oakridge Regional as a D2 competitor . They will play Swan Valley at CMU on Tuesday at 4 pm.
