Game Recap

The Oakridge Boys JV Basketball team ended the season on a sour note with a 57 to 56 defeat in overtime to a good Western Michigan Christian team. WMC ended their season undefeated, but not before the Eagles pushed them to the brink. The Eagles were down 2 at the half, but took a 2 point lead into the final quarter. The Eagles led by 5 late, but were unable to put the game away with poor free throw shooting down the stretch. The eagles ended the game 9 for 23 from the free throw line, while WMC shot 19 for 24 from the line, which changed the outcome of the game.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 5 point lead in overtime, but once again late mistakes and good effort from WMC allowed for a comeback. The Warriors made a basket after a missed free throw to take a one point lead. Peyton Young then had a basket off a great pass from Jalen Hughes to re-take the lead. The warriors responded with a basket of their own and the Eagles had a chance with 5 seconds left in the game. A couple shots from in the paint didn’t fall and WMC came out victorious.

The loss ended a great season for the Eagles. They finished 15-5 on the season, 13-1 in conference and Co-Conference Champions. They gave great effort all season long and should keep their heads up as the future looks bright for them. Best of luck in your future sports seasons and keep improving for next year.
