The 37th Oakridge Invitational took place under sunny skies and cooler temperatures, and lots of fast times were the result. The Division 2 top team finishers for the boys were Montague, with a team total of 38 points, and Holton, just five points behind. Cadillac took first place honors in Division 1, with 48 points, with Grand Rapids Covenant Christian ten points back for a second place finish. Oakridge’s course has undergone some changes since last year, so Luke Noah of Middleville Thornapple-Kellogg is the new course record holder for the boys with a time of 16:32. Oakridge’s Kyle Messerschmidt was seven seconds back at 16:39.
For the ladies, Muskegon West Michigan Christian took home the first place trophy with 36 total points, and Mason County Central finished second in Division 2. Cadillac walked away with first place in Division 1 with a solid 23 point total, followed by Middleville Thornapple-Kellogg. Cadillac’s Analynne Klotz now holds the course record for women’s cross country at Oakridge with a 19:35 finish.
The Oakridge boy’s team managed to place five runners in the top 25, and finished third overall. At the half-way point in the season, both the Eagle boys and girls are training and running hard, and the coaching staff is very pleased with their progress to date.
