Game Recap

The Oakridge Girls Soccer team played their first round district match against Newaygo Lions on Tuesday afternoon. Newaygo got on the board first with a goal in the 22nd minute. On a nice cross from the right side that Micky Wall saved initially. However an unmarked Lion on the back side was able to put the rebound away. The Eagles despite controlling the ball for much of the game were unable to tie the game until the 70th minute when Lanessa Meyers was on the end of a McKenzie Davis free kick and volleyed the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer. This took the game into overtime when Alexis Florez made a nice run from outside midfield after receiving a pass from Jenna Lowry, Alexis put one past the Newaygo keeper to give the Eagles a lead they would not let go of. The Eagles move on to the District semi-finals at Lakeview on Thursday at 5:00.
